Analyst, Analytical Development and Training

Shahad Turkistani is an Energy Analyst in the Analytical Development and Training Department at New Lines Institute, where she focuses on the Indo-Pacific and the Gulf Cooperation Council. She is also a PhD candidate at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, with research centered on global energy transitions and maritime chokepoints.


In parallel, she serves as an Associate Researcher at the Reischauer Center for East Asian Studies, where her work focuses on energy relations between East Asia and the Gulf states. Her research examines the security of strategic sea lanes and their role in shaping regional energy dynamics. Turkistani previously held advisory and research roles in Saudi Arabia and Japan, where she published in the field and contributed to energy dialogues and regional forums linking East Asia and the Gulf.
