Gerasimos Tsourapas

Gerasimos Tsourapas is the 125th Anniversary chair and professor of International Relations at the University of Birmingham and editor-in-chief of Migration Studies at Oxford University Press. His work examines how states use cross-border mobility as an instrument of international power, including how authoritarian regimes extend coercion beyond their borders, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa. Additionally, he leads MIGDIPLO, a project on migration diplomacy originally awarded as an ERC Starting Grant and now funded by UKRI under the Horizon Europe guarantee. He is a senior fellow at the Henry J. Leir Institute of Tufts University’s Fletcher School and a fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. His book, “The Politics of Migration in Modern Egypt,” was published by Cambridge University Press.
