Flavius Mihaies is an independent journalist and World Bank consultant. He previously worked for the U.S. Congress, various think tanks, international organizations, and the private sector on the elaboration, implementation, and analysis of foreign policy and development assistance. His analyses and photography were published by Newsweek, the Huffington Post and Upworthy, among others. Mr. Mihaies travels frequently to the Middle East, most recently to Syria and Iraq, where he worked in a Syrian refugee camp, witnessed the YPG battlefront with the Islamic State and visited Kobane and Christian communities in Damascus, Homs and other Syrian towns.
