S7+ Sectoral Cooperation Framework
Central Asian cooperation across critical sectors, including water resources, energy infrastructure, and technology development, presents both challenges and opportunities. Our research provides detailed analysis of needs, opportunities, and pathways for regional coordination in these domains.
Shared Resources, Shared Solutions
Water and energy challenges in Central Asia are deeply interconnected. Upstream hydropower development affects downstream irrigation and frequent electricity shortages from outdated grids constrain economic growth across the region. These interdependencies make unilateral solutions inadequate. A regional water commission and integrated power grid could transform sources of tension into foundations for collaboration.
Building for the Future
Central Asian governments have ambitious plans for technology development and modernization, but realizing these goals requires infrastructure and human capital that no single state possesses. Educational cooperation can build the regional knowledge base necessary for advancement, while coordinated approaches to AI and digital development can establish shared standards and attract outside investment.
