Matthew Petti is an assistant editor at Reason. His reporting has appeared in outlets including the BBC (in both Persian and English), The Intercept, The Daily Beast, New Lines Magazine, Responsible Statecraft, Middle East Eye, and The National Interest, among others. A graduate of Columbia University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies, Petti began his journalism career as a features writer for the Columbia Daily Spectator. He writes on U.S. national security policy, with a particular focus on how it intersects with American society and domestic politics.
