Güzin Karagöz is a rising sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she studies Political Science and Contemporary European Studies with a minor in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. She was born in Istanbul, Turkey but has lived in 3 countries since then. She speaks Turkish, English and German and is interested in immigration and international law. She has done research in the Difficulties of Becoming a Legal Resident in the US as well as How Retrenchment in Kemalism is Preventing the Accession of Turkey into the EU. Her latest project discusses contemporary German politics and the impact of the transnational cleavage on the current party system.
