Impact Analyst

Position Description:

The Impact Analyst at the New Lines Institute for Strategy and Policy is responsible for advising the Director of Strategy and Innovation in the Institute’s Department for Strategy and Innovation on the impact of institutional publications, events, outreach, and other types of production, using sentiment analysis. Another key function of the Impact Analyst is to identify and manage tools for engaging in external outreach for the Institute, and to regularly maintain and update external outreach databases. The Impact Analyst will also contribute to the development of strategic messaging for institutional initiatives, publications, events, and other types of production. They will report to the Director of Strategy and Innovation and will supervise relevant team members.

Location and Salary: 

This is a full-time, salaried position and will require the successful candidate to be present in the Washington, D.C. area. A hybrid schedule, working part-time in the New Lines Institute office in Washington, D.C., and working part-time remotely outside that office, is possible but dependent on corporate policy. The salary for the Impact Analyst position is commensurate with the experience of the candidate. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Advising the Director of Strategy and Innovation in the Institute’s Department for Strategy and Innovation on the impact of institutional publications, events, outreach, and other types of production, using sentiment analysis.
  • Identifying and managing tools for engaging in external outreach for the Institute, and to regularly maintain and update external outreach databases.
  • Informing and shaping the Institute’s strategy based on research performed.
  • Contributing to the development of strategic messaging for institutional initiatives, publications, events, and other types of production.
  • Enforcing the institute-wide use of metrics for assessing the impact of the Institute’s external relations strategy.
  • Supervising team members.


Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Graduate degree in international relations or related field is a plus.  
  • At least two (2) years working in the field of international relations, national security, government relations, and communications. 
  • Experience developing and executing strategies for utilizing sentiment analysis and other types of impact assessment methodologies. 
  • Experience working in a U.S. foreign policymaking role or advising or informing U.S. foreign policy, and/or experience advising private sector leaders. 
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.  
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
